2002-05-06 By Matt Sebastian, Daily Camera - May 6, 2002, Titled, "Professor to pen Ramsey book." "University of Colorado professor Michael Tracey says he has begun writing a book about the slain 6-year-old's impact on journalism, entertainment and American popular culture." "The book is tentatively titled "755 15th St.," the address of the Ramseys' former Boulder home, although Tracey said he has yet to secure a publisher for the work. Tracey plans to examine "the intersection of entertainment and the American judiciary," as well as an Internet subculture that continues to fixate on the unsolved homicide." 2003-04-07 From: Boulder County District Attorney Mary Keenan: "I have carefully reviewed the Order of United States District Court Judge Julie Carnes in the civil case of Wolf v. John Ramsey and Patricia Ramsey. I agree with the Court's conclusion that "the weight of the evidence is more consistent with a theory that an intruder murdered JonBenet than it is with a theory that Mrs. Ramsey did so." "For several months, my office has been investigating new and other unpursued leads, most of which involve the possibility that an intruder committed this crime. 2004-04-02 Republican John Ramsey is running for the Michigan House of Representatives. He has privately confirmed that for two lobbyists at the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, where he recently appeared seeking its all-important endorsement. Asked in the 90-minute meeting to rate his chances of running on a scale of 1-10, Ramsey said, "I'm a 10." Chamber political operative Bob LaBrant says it's clear Ramsey is a candidate. 2004-06-12 ADVERTISMENT: By Stephen McGinty, (TV REVIEW) Living.Scotsman.Com - June 12, 2004 (ITV, 9pm) Titled, "Blind injustice, REAL CRIME: WHO KILLED THE PAGEANT QUEEN?," "A case may now be built against Michael Helgoth, a violent loner with paedophilic tendencies, who may have carried out the crime, assisted by an as yet unnamed second man. Helgoth owned a stun gun of the type used on the victim and his shoes matched prints found at the scene. Helgoth, however, is dead. He apparently killed himself in 1997, the day after a police press conference in which the authorities insisted they were closing in on the perpetrator. A new investigation, carried out by the Colorado District Attorney’s office, is now following leads suggesting that Helgoth may have been killed by his partner-in-crime. And featuring "stick it to ya" John Kenady. Here they strongly suggest after the murder that Gigax probably murdered Helgoth. They even state that Helgoth's DNA is not a match) (Producer Michael Tracey and David Mills)

2004-06-15 Today's telly with Jill Foster, Mirror.Co.UK, June 15, 2004, (ITV 1, 9pm) Titled, "CLOSING IN ON A CHILD-KILLER - WHO KILLED THE PAGEANT QUEEN?," "Now, a team of investigators has turned up astounding new evidence which points directly to the two men they say are JonBenet's killers. One is gun fanatic and paedophile Michael Helgoth, found dead a day after the District Attorney asserted he would find the little girl's killer. Another is a man with a violent past who is believed to be involved in a similar and more recent attack on a 12-year-old girl in the Ramseys' neighbourhood." 2004-06-24 "Catherine Crier LIVE (Court TV) - June 24th, 2004. Michael Tracey on Court TV, talking to Catherine Crier about Michael Helgoth. Tracey validates using Michael Helgoth in his documentary from a story in the National Enquirer that Helogoth had a stun gun and owned Hi-Tec boots, shown in this segment. Michael Tracey's documentaries are peppered with critisism on tabloid articles, including those in the National Enquirer, for attacking the Ramsey. The Ramseys have stated that the National Enquirer is their "most vile opponent." Yet Tracey praises the National Enquirer for running the story.

2006-04-11 by Libby McCarthy, Staff Writer, THE CAMPUS PRESS - April 11, 2006, Titled, "Tracey to pen new JonBenet book." "Michael Tracey, a CU journalism professor and JonBenet Ramsey expert, is delving yet again into the infamous murder case with a new book, promising readers “access to a body of evidence no one else has seen.” The book is titled “Shoes: The Killing of JonBenet Ramsey,” after the adage about standing in someone else’s shoes. Tracey hopes a manuscript will be ready by Aug. 6." Another theme the book will focus on is the media and public obsession with the case, which is one of Tracey’s academic interests as a professor. He said the story is important because it points out the problematic relationship between market forces and journalism. “Market forces bring to the surface the ugliness of a culture and it doesn’t reflect well on that society’s values,” Tracey said, adding that a culture thriving off of tabloid journalism is “somewhere between tragic and hilarious.” When asked why he thought the media and the public were so eager to implicate the Ramsey family as guilty, he answered simply, “people prefer comfortable lies to uncomfortable truths. If you tell a lie long enough it becomes a truth.” (http://www.thecampuspress.com/news/2006/04/jonbenet.php)

2006-06-24 Patsy Ramsey died of ovarian cancer at the age of 49. (CBS News) Patsy Ramsey, the mother of JonBenet, died early Saturday morning, CBS News has learned. The 49-year-old died from complications from cancer in Atlanta, Georgia. Ramsey family attorney Lin Wood told KCNC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Denver, that Ramsey passed away at 3:30 a.m. Wood said Ramsey had been in a coma and the cancer had spread to her brain. Her husband, John Ramsey, was at her side. Boulder police brushed aside the thousands of leads that came in, and dismissed the possibility that an intruder had somehow slipped inside the house and committed the murder. Instead, they leaked information to the media – sometimes fabricated information, charges of pornography and sexual abuse – to put pressure on the Ramseys. The police chief said the parents were "under an umbrella of suspicion," but a grand jury did not indict the couple for murder. Throughout the lengthy and sometimes hostile police interrogations, both in 1998 and 2000, the Ramseys maintained their innocence. A 2005 48 Hours report found that DNA evidence ruled out the parents as suspects and investigators were no longer focusing on the Ramsey family. http://cbs11tv.com/national/topstories_story_175103609.html

2006-06-30 MARIETTA, Ga. - Patsy Ramsey's casket was lowered deep into the Georgia clay under a blazing sun and cloudless sky Thursday. Her final resting place in St. James Episcopal Cemetery is just four strides from that of her daughter, JonBenet. We know she has been welcomed home with the words 'Well done, good and faithful servant,' " said the Rev. Nancy Folsom during the 40-minute service in nearby Roswell, where Patsy Ramsey died Saturday at age 49. Her sisters, Pamela Paugh and Paulette Paugh Davis, were among a group of mourners who sported bright, floppy-brimmed hats, a tribute to Patsy's fondness for festive head coverings. About 300 people attended the service in the expansive, modern sanctuary that seats 2,000. The woman in charge of the case, Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy, attended the service. Ramsey attorney Hal Haddon sat a few rows behind her, and attorneys Patrick Burke and Lin Wood served as pallbearers. Retired Colorado Springs homicide investigator Lou Smit, originally hired to work the case by Lacy's predecessor, also was there, adding to the sad reunion of prominent figures. Smit, now a fervent believer that an intruder killed the child, still works the case on his own time.By Charlie Brennan, Rocky Mountain News

He has been given access to documents that had been unavailable to anyone before - papers were signed giving him access to previously "protected" records. He says the book will be full of this new information - - and he has the same problem I had when I wrote my play - - there just isn't enough room for it all. Bryan Morgan was very nice. I especially enjoyed seeing Mike Bynum again. Lou and Ollie and John.... they don't seem willing to give up on this case - - for that I am thankful. Lin and I spent a time together. I assure you, any problems we had before ended LONG ago. There is no animosity there.” (http://www.webbsleuths.org/dcforum/DCForumID61/1805.html)

2006-06-30 (11:03 AM (EST) Webbsleuths Forum: Posting by “jameson” on thread titled, “"Patsy's visitation", I went to the visitation on Wednesday night. The funeral home was not far from the Marietta Square and I parked some distance away so I could walk and gather my thoughts before and after going to see Patsy for the last time. When I went in, there was a book to sign, then a long wait in line to see John and the children. While in line, I could see into the main room. I recognized a lot of people. John, Burke, John Andrew and his wife. I could see Pam and Paulette. Susan Stine came by and we spoke briefly. I recognized one friend of Patsy's from a visit to the cemetary with Patsy - we cleaned up the site. I could see Lin Wood and Lou Smit, Ollie Grey and so many others. Many Colorado people there.” (http://www.webbsleuths.org/dcforum/DCForumID61/1801.html)
